Expert Dog Health and Nutrition Advice : Raw food diet

In this episode, pet food nutritionist and Pooches at Play host, Lara Shannon, meets Deb and her rescue dog, Sasha, to discuss the numerous benefits of a raw food diet for dogs.

Deb explains that Sasha was very overweight and suffered from recurring yeast infections in her ears when she first came into her care. Then the vet discovered a tumour on her back leg, a really aggressive cancer. Deb was told that unless she amputated Sasha’s leg and gave her six months of chemotherapy she’d be dead within three months.

Deb contacted a canine nutritionist to get their expert health advice on how to support her system to make her as healthy as possible. They advised her to put Sasha on a bones and raw food diet. This involved crushing up bones and weighing offal, then adding in fruit and veg. Deb thought there must be an easier way to create a nutritional dog food to improve Sasha’s health and that’s when she discovered the Big Dog product with the creative name, “Barf Patties.”

Now, over three years later, Deb cannot believe the change that the raw food diet has brought about in her beloved dog, Sasha. She lost seven kilograms and no longer suffers from yeast infections. Plus, she was able to avoid chemotherapy and still has all four legs to run around on, with her newfound lease of life.
